  • What are dental implants?

    Dental implants are artificial titanium roots that are inserted into the patient's jawbone to support the new, fixed teeth.

  • How are they used?

    Implants are inserted in a single session under local anesthesia. For patients who are more anxious or anxious about the procedure, anesthesia may be combined with sedation. Do not hesitate to ask the dentist about this possibility.

  • Is it painful?

    It is common for patients to be unsure whether the procedure is painful or not, but the truth is that it is completely painless.

  • How many implants do I need?

  • Is there an age limit for inserting implants?

    Yes, there is an action protocol for this type of patient. The day before surgery, usual medication is replaced with heparin, and the day after surgery, the patient resumes his usual medication.

  • Can implants be placed in a patient with osteoporosis?

    Yes, indeed a very high percentage of our patients suffer from osteoporosis. However, in these cases, the implantologist's surgical skills and good diagnosis and planning are more important than the patient's physical characteristics.

  • Are implants rejected?

    Implants go through a process called osseointegration. Only in 1.5% of cases does integration fail, but in these cases an implant can be reinserted after the healing process.

  • Mouths with little bone...

    Today, a jaw with little bone is quite compatible with implants. Implantology has made great strides in recent years and the aggressive techniques that used bone from the hip, chin or shin are now outdated.

  • WHAT IS INVISIBLE ORTHODONTICS or INVISALIGN?

    It is a procedure for correcting tooth and bone misalignments using transparent aligners.

  • HOW DOES ALIGNER THERAPY WORK?

    We first create a treatment plan for the patient. This is a virtual treatment plan in 3D. This shows the expected movements of the teeth during treatment so that the patient can see the final result before treatment begins.

  • CAN THEY BE INSERTED AND REMOVED?

    The aligners can be removed at any time, allowing patients to eat whatever they want, maintain good oral hygiene, and remove them for short periods of time during special occasions such as weddings or important meetings. However, for the treatment to be effective, we recommend wearing the aligners 22 hours per day.

  • HOW LONG WILL THE TREATMENT TAKE?

    The aligner treatment time required to complete treatment depends on the individual and the complexity of the dental problem. We usually assess them during the first visit to the clinic.

  • IS THE TREATMENT SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE?

  • DOES IT PAIN?

    It's not painful. Some people may temporarily experience a slight discomfort, a feeling of pressure, in the first few days with a new aligner. This is a sign that the aligners are working well and are gradually moving the teeth. This discomfort usually disappears within a few days.

  • HOW LONG DO ORTHODONTIC CHECKS TAKE AT THE DENTIST?

    Invisible orthodontics with aligners requires less time in the treatment room than other orthodontic systems because there are no adjustments or changes to be made to the archwires.

Treatment of snoring

Snoring causes health problems and sleep disorders. In some cases, it can even lead to sleep apnea syndrome, that is, pauses in breathing during sleep, making recovery difficult and affecting quality of life.


At the Implant Center Bern we offer a solution to this problem with the help of a mandibular protrusion splint (UPS). This device, inserted into the mouth, changes the position of the jaw and tongue, facilitating the passage of air, thus solving the problem of snoring without the need for surgical intervention.

Temporomandibular joint disorders

If you suffer from headaches, dizziness, earaches, back pain, neck pain, or facial and jaw discomfort, you may have this disorder.


As a rule, temporomandibular joint disorders cannot be traced back to a single cause, but to several. One of them is "bruxism", which affects more than 30% of the population and is a habit of clenching or grinding one's teeth for non-functional reasons. Some of the causes can be stress or nervousness.


We treat this habit with various coordinated measures to correct it and thus avoid discomfort and tooth fractures.

The treatment consists of a single session in which a gel is applied to the teeth and activated by cold LED light.

Until a few years ago, patients with little bone in their upper jaw had to undergo very aggressive surgery with hip, chin or shin bone transplants if they wanted implants. Nowadays, thanks to advances in dentistry, new techniques have been developed to solve this problem. The technique consists of placing the implants in the dense bone of the cheekbone, allowing a perfect anchoring to restore the mouth quickly, safely, predictably and with strong teeth from day one. This technique has a success rate of 94% to 100%.

What does the procedure consist of?


The patient is scanned and at the Implant Center Bern we enter the scanner data into a computer program that gives us a three-dimensional view of the jawbone. We use this computer program to plan the implants and insert them virtually.


We send this information via email to our own laboratory or to a laboratory in the USA that creates a high-precision template using the same data.


With this template we can place the implants in the same position as planned, and best of all without having to open the gums.


In addition, thanks to this high-precision template we can prepare the teeth before inserting the implants, so in less than an hour we can insert the implants and the teeth without opening the gums, and therefore without pain, bruising or inflammation.


Perfect for people with little time, this technique significantly reduces dental visits without affecting work life or other activities.
